Invite people from your addressbook and social networks

Hello Guys,

In a release we did few days back we’ve rolled out the extended Invite Functionality. Using the new invite feature you can not only invite people from your address book(yahoo, hotmail or gmail etc) to Kwippy but you can also invite friends from your favorite social networks like Facebook, Orkut, Myspace, LinkedIn etc. So if you were waiting to invite your friends to join the action at kwippy, you can do so now in just a few clicks.

You can reach the invite page by clicking on the “Find and Invite” link from your kwips page.

invite_link

From the invite page, you can choose the provider and enter your credentials. We won’t be saving your credentials and will just use them to send invites. On submitting your credentials you will be sent to the invite details page

Services Supported

You can choose people you want to invite and personalize the invite text. Personalizing the invite text is a simple and easy way of letting people know that it’s really you whose sent the invite and not a bot.

Invite details

Just give the feature and try and let us know what you think about it. Hope to see more of your friends on kwippy.

Happy Kwipping !!

A millions kwips and more

So we have finally reached a million quips and more coming in from all around the world. It is because of the awesome kwippy community that we have been able to come so far.

In the recent times we have added a new search RSS feed which will allow developers to mine information from the kwippy system and also modified the way we send our notifications (now we send complete comments in the IM and email notifications).

So stay tuned as we have more coming this March 2009.

Kwippy Wordpress Plugin

Hello Kwippers,

This post is to announce the launch of version 1.0 of the Kwippy Wordpress Plugin. Yes, in a late night(rather early morning) coding spree Dipankar wrote the plugin. We’ve been planning for this plugin for quite some time and finally we have it.
Using the plugin you can kwip the URL for your latest wordpress blog post automatically i.e every time you publish a blog post on your wordpress blog it’s url and title will be posted to kwippy under your account, isn’t it cool ?

After installation go to the settings section of your wordpress installation and save your kwippy credentials under the kwippypost section(of settings).

You can download the plugin here. Let us know how you find it

Happy Kwipping :)

Kwippy Community Stars

About three months ago we started featuring users and showing their names on the everyone’s page. The criteria for featuring is one’s activity on the site and it doesn’t mean just posting new kwips. Those who comment more have a better chance at getting featured than those who don’t. We’ve featured about 40 users till now(three per week). So if you are new on kwippy or just want to expand your network, check out these kwippers and I am user you’ll find some good friends out of them. The users featured in the past three months(in no particular order) are

We Be Clubbin’ with the Kwippy Book Club

By NikitaScene

The month of January ushers in the promise of better things to come in the form of New Years resolutions; they flood throughout our collective consciousness and give us new found hope for the future. Crowning most lists are the old stanbys: save more money, lose weight, exercise more, spend more time with the family, get organized. Sadly, all but four out of five people who make these resolutions will break them before the end of January. (My list was shattered by January 1st!)
But don’t let these dismal statistics worry your beautiful self; Kwippy has the answer to all that ails and this time it’s in the form of a new book club at Kwippy. Hey now! A book a month is a resolution we can all get behind; besides, literacy is sexy and helps build strong bones and teeth.

The first work is the celebrated novel, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera. Set in 1968, Kundera’s work explores “…a world in which lives are shaped by irrevocable choices and by fortuitous events, a world in which everything occurs but once, existence seems to lose its substance, its weight. Hence, we feel ‘the unbearable lightness of being’ not only as the consequence of our pristine actions but also in the public sphere, and the two inevitably intertwine.”
Life, love, choices made, and the resulting consequences? Join us as we read and discuss….
