Over the last couple of days we have been working towards making the application faster. One of the measurement tools that we have used is grabperf (http://grabperf.org). Some major changes have taken place in the backend, like

• All anon users(logged out users) get a cached page (which expires in 5 minutes). This is to reduce the unecessary load which search engine bots create. It also ensures a fast page load for pages that get a large number of hits, say if they get digged or slashdotted.
• Lot of the pages have been cached, where the cache expires on some event. For example one can cache the profile information which needs expiry only when someone modifies the profile. This technique has been used to fasten up lots of pages.

The fun part is that the page loading time has gone down by a second or more depending on the page you click. Hope this makes kwippying a much more enjoyable experience :).
